How to Play Keno, Keno Rules

Keno CardsKeno is one of the easiest casino games to learn. It is uncomplicated, and somewhat similar to playing Bingo or Lotto. There are a few different varieties, but those are not tricky or difficult to understand.

Objective
The objective of Keno is to guess which numbers the random number generator machine will choose. The more numbers a player guesses correctly, the higher the payout is for the player.

Game Play
The player selects between 1 and 15 numbers. Numbers must fall between 1 and 80, as those are the only numbers that could possibly be chosen by the machine. When the player selects a number, that number will turn a different color than the other numbers on the board to designate that the number is a chosen one. If players do not want to manually select their numbers, they can choose to have numbers randomly selected for them. Players can opt to deselect a number if they would like—as long as they do so before their turn has finished. The player also makes a bet. The screen will show the potential payout as more numbers are chosen—this will aid the player in deciding how many numbers to select and how much to bet.

Next, the computer randomly selects 20 numbers. After the computer has finished, the numbers are compared. The player scores a ‘hit’ for ever number of his that matches one of the computer’s numbers. The more ‘hits’ a player has, the higher his payout will be; however, his payout will also depend upon how much he has bet. A maximum bet will obviously bring a larger payout than a minimum bet.

Online Keno games are much faster-paced than games in land-based casinos. This is partly because players can opt to play a series of four or five games at a time.

Types of Keno Cards
Although most Keno games work just as described above, and most Keno cards are of the same type, many online game websites have been developing different types of Keno cards in order to give players different experiences with Keno. Online casinos have been trying special varieties of Keno cards in order to allow players to have better odds of winning and to keep players interested in the game.

Way Ticket: These tickets allow players to choose many sets when playing; therefore, they end up costing less money to play than regular tickets.

Split Ticket: Using this type of ticket is like playing two games on one ticket. Players can draw a line down the center of the ticket and then select numbers on each side of the line. This ticket does, however, offer a lower payout than a standard ticket.

20 Spot Ticket: Players using these tickets can choose up to 20 numbers. There are up to 18 unique ways of winning. The downside to these tickets is that the payout is less because matches of only 4 to 6 numbers will not usually pay.

Progressive Jackpot Keno
This type of Keno is more difficult to win; however, it has a really large jackpot. The top payout is not a fixed amount of money; rather, it builds as people play the game because money is added to the jackpot each time a person makes a bet. The jackpot starts at $50,000 and keeps growing until someone wins.

To win this jackpot, a player chooses 10 numbers. Then the computer selects 10 numbers. All 10 numbers must match in order for the player to win the entire jackpot.

In some casinos (online or offline) smaller amounts of the progressive jackpot are awarded to players who match a smaller amount of numbers.
