There is more than one type of Bingo game. When you go to play on an online website to play Bingo, it is important to understand the various ways to play.

75-Ball Bingo

This type of Bingo is traditionally played in North America. Players purchase cards with 5 x 5 grids of numbers. These cards have a very specific layout.

One letter tops each column—either B-I-N-G, or O. In the columns, the numbers are randomly chosen; however, the numbers are selected within certain criteria. Numbers under the ‘B’ are always between 1 and 15; numbers under ‘I’ are between 16 and 30. Under the ‘N,’ the middle space is a FREE space; the other four spaces contain numbers between 31 and 45. The numbers under ‘G’ include ones between 46 and 60. Finally, the ‘O’ column contains numbers between 61 and 75.

For play, numbers are drawn out one at a time. Players mark off the numbers on their cards that match the drawn numbers. For 75-Ball Bingo, up to a total of 75 random balls are drawn until a player gets a Bingo.

A Bingo can be a straight line, from corner to corner. Or, it can be another type of pattern. What counts as a ‘Bingo!’ will be stated on the particular Bingo website on which a person is playing. There are 6000 different Bingo cards a person can play on, so

90-Ball Bingo

This type of Bingo is played in most other countries besides North America. Tickets for 90-Ball Bingo are very different from 75-Ball Bingo cards.

These Bingo tickets contain nine columns and three rows each. Tickets are often bound in books, with ten cards in a book. Each card contains six tickets. Because of this, cards are also called ‘strips of tickets.’

The numbers 1 through 90 are randomly distributed on each ticket; however, there is a certain order to how the numbers are placed on the tickets. On a ticket strip, or card, every number between 1 and 90 is somewhere on the card. Each row contains 5 numbers and 4 blank spaces.

Players call “Bingo!” when they have achieved a certain pattern. The first pattern, called “One Line,” is just as it sounds—it is accomplished by crossing off all of the squares in one horizontal line. The second pattern is called “Two Lines.” Players must cross off all squares in two horizontal lines to win this pattern. For the third pattern, “Full House,” players need to cross off all of the numbers on their ticket.

Playing Bingo Online

Many sites will offer a choice of either 75-Ball Bingo or 90-Ball Bingo. And, there are a few Bingo websites that have developed a new Bingo game called 80-Ball Bingo. Make certain you know which type of Bingo is being played before you put money into a site—you want to understand the rules before you begin.

Sites generally have a caller that you can hear as well as a place where you can see the numbers that have been called. In addition, many sites automatically mark Bingo cards, making it easier to play several cards at once.

Most Bingo websites also allow players to select different cards if they don’t like the cards they are given at first—before play begins, of course.

Bingo has an interesting past. Here is a basic timeline of the significant events in its history:

Italy 1530: This was the birthplace of Bingo. At this time, it was more of a lottery, and it was known then as “Lo Giuoco Code Lotto” or “Lo Giuoco del Lotto D’Italia. Saturdays in Italy are still reserved for Bingo for many people in Italy.

France 1778: Bingo came to France in this year. But, it wasnt a commoners game at allBingo was a game that only the wealthy played.

Germany 1880: Bingo moved from France to Germany in the late 1800s. Here, however, it was not a game of the rich. In Germany, Bingo was used as an educational tool. Teachers used this game to help teach spelling, history, and math.

North America 1929: This is when Bingo came to America; however, it was not known as Bingo at first. The game was first played as Beano. Players used beans to mark spots on their playing cards, shouting Beano! when they got five in a row. It took a man named Edwin S. Lowe, a salesman, to publicize and promote the name as Bingo for the name to change.

North America 1930: As part of his publicity campaign, Lowe hired Carl Leffler, a Columbia University math professor, to increase the number of Bingo combinations on cards to 6000. It is said that this project drove Leffler insane.

North America 1934: With Lowes permission, churches began coordinating Bingo games for charity. Charity Bingo games significantly increase the games popularity.

United Kingdom 1968: Bingo is included in the Gaming Act in the United Kingdom, showing how popular the game is beginning to grow in the United Kingdom.

United Kingdom 1986: The United Kingdom starts a national game of Bingo this year.

Worldwide 2007: Bingo has greatly increased in popularity across the world. Over 3 million enjoy playing in Bingo hallsand the number of online Bingo players is rising every day.

If you are looking for an online bingo site, you probably know that there are dozens of sites from which to choose. So, here is a guideline to follow. These are all important considerations to keep in mind before selecting an online bingo site.

Security Certification
Check to make sure that any bingo site you are considering is security certified. Look for certificates from Thwate and/or VeriSign on the website. Also make sure that the site uses 128-bit encryption with multiple firewalls. This security protection is essential so that your personal information and security details will be safe on the bingo site.

Customer Support
Some online bingo sites offer phone support; others offer only email support. Some may have voice chat support as well. But, what is important is not the type of customer support—instead, the response time is what is of main significance. Some bingo websites may only offer email support…yet these sites may respond to customer queries within minutes, at any time of the day or night. And there may be websites that mention telephone customer service; however, they neglect to mention that this service is not available on weekends or holidays.

Jackpot Sizes
The size of the jackpots at various bingo websites will vary. It is important to check what the jackpots are like and make sure that this is acceptable to you. Some sites offer larger jackpots on weekends or evenings—if you will not be able to play at these times, these sites will not work for you. Also, you may not want to play on sites that do not offer jackpots with large enough sizes.

Bingo Site Software
There are several different types of bingo software. Most experts agree that the best software is either BingoTek or LeapFrog. Other good choices include Globalcom/Electrocade, Playtech, and Chartwell. These are the software programs with the best graphics and are the easiest to work with.

Chatrooms
Busy, well-monitored chatrooms are a sign of a well-run bingo website. Some chatrooms even have moderators who run promotions, giving away prizes that are only available to people who are active in the chatrooms.

Currencies Accepted
Check to see which types of currency are accepted at a bingo website before registering. Some accept only one or two currency types; however, many will exchange other currencies at current bank exchange rates.

Game Varieties
There are different varieties of bingo, such as 75-ball and 90-ball. You may want to find a site that offers both—or, at least choose a site that offers your preference. Some bingo sites also offer other games, such as Blackjack, Roulette, and other casino-related games. For some people, this type of variety is of great consequence.

Loyalty Programs
Some bingo websites offer frequent players extra bonuses for their loyalty. These may be redeposit bonuses or other extras.

Required Downloads
Sites that do not require software downloads often work more quickly and easily, using Java or Flash technology. But, bingo websites that do require downloaded software for their use generally offer a better playing experience because they have more gameplay options and a better design. Also, browser-based software may not function as well for players who do not have high-speed internet service.

Jurisdiction Restrictions
United States legislation has caused some bingo websites to pull out of the US market. This is because of US gambling laws. There are some sites that still operate in the US, however. Make certain you are on a site that allows registration in your jurisdiction before signing up.

Jurisdiction License
Because of strict laws, bingo websites must be licensed from a regulated jurisdiction in order to legally operate.

Establishment Date
You need to find this out because you will not want to sign up for a website that has only recently been established—unless, of course, you see that the newer site was developed by the maker of one of the other long-standing bingo websites. Longevity in a bingo website is an indication of its reliability.

Brand Identity
Site operators have a reputation to protect, so any who have been around for a very long time or who are involved in other businesses they will be more likely to work to protect the status of their bingo websites by taking care of their customers.

Withdrawal Restrictions
Some bingo websites have restrictions on how and when players can withdraw their winnings or their money deposits. Make certain that you understand these terms and that you are comfortable with these restrictions.

Site Awards
It is a good idea to look at any awards that certain bingo websites have gotten. The more awards a site has gotten, the more you will be assured that the site is of good quality.

Registration Bonuses
This varies greatly from site to site, but many bingo websites offer bonuses on deposits and/or registration to the site. Check for these—and also check to make sure that there are no restrictions on withdrawals of these bonuses or winnings from the bonuses.

Everyone wants to win the biggest possible bingo jackpots. Here are seven tips to help you try to maximize your winnings—and to get those jackpots as often as possible.

Tip #1
Make sure to join a site that has online chatrooms which offer additional prizes. Some bingo sites have chatrooms whose moderators give out bonuses or prizes at specific times or during promotions. Choose a site with this perk, and make sure to stop in on the chatroom at least several times a week so as not to miss any of these giveaway opportunities.

Tip #2
Opt for a bingo site that charges higher prices for bingo cards—these are the games that typically have the largest jackpots and higher payout prizes.

Tip #3
In general, the biggest payouts are usually offered on Friday and Saturday evenings between the hours of 8pm to 11pm. Whenever possible, play during this time.

Tip #4
Play as many cards as you can at a time. Playing only one card will lower your odds.

Tip #5
Make certain to check the credibility of any site before you begin playing. You don’t want to lose any money, after all. Check to see if the site on which you are planning to play is reputable and if it is protected by security.

Tip #6
Consider taking part in other games on bingo sites—these will have fewer players than the regular bingo; therefore, your odds of winning will be increased.

Tip #7
Take advantage of sites that offer deposit bonuses. Some bingo websites offer bonuses as large as 200% for initial deposits, with continuing bonuses for additional deposits. It makes good sense to play on a site that offers these bonuses because it gives you more money with which to play—offering you more opportunities to win.
